M. What’s your dream travel destination?
J. I don’t think i have a specific dream destination. I would like to see the entire world, but that’s a little unlikely since the entire world also consists of lone, hard to reach islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean or McMurdo Station in Antarctica, which is literally at the bottom of the world. And extremely cold. But apart from those, as long as I can get there without the risk of immediate death, i would like to do so.
Realistically though, my dream travel would be a medium to long term trip, anywhere in the world I haven’t already been to (which is pretty much everywhere apart from central, eastern and southern Europe), and accompanied by close friends who are as enthusiastic about traveling as I am. We would have little, to no plans and go as the wind would blow and see what will happen. I’d have to say somewhere as different to what we’re used to as possible, like Asia or America, so that we’re as far away from our comfort zones as possible and thus the trip would be more fun and surprising.
M. What is something you’re never done and that you’d be happy to try?
J. To be honest I love good reality adventure shows like Survivor or The Amazing Race, and even though they’re strictly for American citizens, if they would ever make a European series of either one, I would love to try and get in the show, because i think they’re brilliant and challenging. I would lean more towards The Amazing Race, because of its lots-of-places-in-short-time aspect, but also because i don’t think i could uhm…survive, in Survivor. I would love to put my comfort and general laziness to the test, but I’m already scrawny and athletic-less, and would probably not be able to live on an island, with little food and no shelter for 39 days. I’m alright with short, fast doses of effort, like in The Amazing Race, and knowing I can eat as much as I like and sleep well the same night. But hey, if I could ever get the chance, i would at least like to try and audition for either one.
M. What do you think you’d be able to share and teach?
J. I like to think i’m good at lots of things. I admire people who are balanced and well rounded, and that have a lot of skills, and so I like to think I’m one of those, or at least, I strive to be. But as far as teaching or sharing a skill with someone else, I would probably pick filmmaking. I think i’m a good writer and I always have lots of creative ideas and I love to put my words and ideas into something more entertaining, like videos/films. So I guess I would love to share that experience with someone. Let them create their own concept, help them with the writing, scripting, and then also help them put everything into an audio-visual project that might make them more confident about their concepts and ideas, and help them put those ideas out into the world.
