Skateboarding with Maicol.

Skateboarding is not just a sport. There’s a whole culture behind it. When I was a kid I used to do it often. It was fun. It’s been quite a long time though for me to remember how to do it properly.

When I first tried, with Maicol and his friends, I could barely stand on the board. It didn’t take long to find my balance again though.

When I got to the post office’s parking lot, the guys were already skating. On saturdays the offices are closed and there are no cars. The city doesn’t have proper skateboarding areas. They like this spot because of the wide empy lanes and the few steps all around which they use to perform their tricks.

My experience on the four wheels started when Maicol introduced me to the other guys and gave me a skateboard.

I was learning my first moves while Matteo, Antonio and Nicola were showing off their skills.

I was very excited when I finally succeeded with my first jump, technically known as ollie. All I have to do now is trying to get my feet stuck to the board as I actually fly over things. I’m afraid that’s going to take some more practice.
